It's HOT in Vietnam!

Hey all!

We arrived in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam last eve (Tuesday) after, including trains and waiting time, a 21 hour jouney! Simon's friend Caroline, who has been teaching here for the past two years, met us at the airport and brought us back to her apartment. It is a beautiful, very new two-bedroom. Really impressive. We went out for our first meal, Vietnamese Thai, which was super tasty and then were off to bed. Simon and I slept from midnight to 630am and then again from 730(me)/830(si)-130pm! And somehow we were STILL tired when we woke up! We made it out of the house for a brief stroll around Caroline's neighborhood, but by the time we were a few blocks away, i was panting and in dire need of some water. It is just so HOT and MUGGY here. It is obviously something we will learn to get used to over the next 3 months of traveling, but boy o boy, it sure was a shock to our systems today! And to think that Washington, DC just got 10inches of snow! haha...we really are a world away! However, I must admit, as the sun went down, it became far more comfortable, mildly pleasant in fact. We headed into the city center with Caroline tonight for some more tasty food and for a brief introduction to the main city sights. We are on our own tomorrow, thankful to Caroline for drawing idiot-proof maps and directions for us. Wish us luck!

FYI, we are 7 hrs ahead for those of you in Britain and 12 hours ahead for all you Americans. For the rest of you...well, we'll let you figure it out!

As always, love to our family and friends. We miss you all dearly and look forward to seeing you this summer!

Love,
Em and Si xo

  2. I've been looking at the blog a bit over the past months. What you accomplished in Kenya was amazing. Your pictures of the holidays in Europe were beautiful. I look forward to seeing SA Asia through your eyes.

    Have a great adventure!
